A captivating case for those of the intellectual bent of mind; the demonic Id willingly subjecting to the governance of the fatigued superego. A cynic might mutter that the uptight taxidermist has met their match, while a realist will declare that unbridled desire necessarily implodes. Homo Sapiens seeks to reveal, deconstruct, and remake, and in their methods disclosed as much of themselves as the object of their preservation, as Freud would say. The probing, globed fingers of anatomy flounders in the boundless depths of verdant desire, while apathetic libido rages in the shape of the absence of desire. Nature has placed mankind under the governance of two sovereign masters, pain and pleasure, and nowhere is this clearer than in the mingling of long green and violet strands, bloodied scalpels and shattered whiskey glasses, maniacal laughter and frustrated patience, and brilliant jewels glistening under eyes that see not their beauty but their master. Tenderness, to them, is in the aftermath of violence.

지적인 유희에 흥미가 있는 자들이라면 이 사례를 보라: 악마같은 이드가 자발적으로 피곤한 초자아의 지도 아래 스스로 복종하는 것을. 냉소주의자는 결벽적인 박제사가 이제야 제 적수를 만났다고 중얼거릴지도 모르고, 현실주의자라면 고삐 풀린 욕망은 필연적으로 내파한다 주장할 것이다. 호모 사피엔스는 드러내고, 해체하고, 재조립하려 들고, 프로이트가 주장하듯이 보존의 방법론은 보존의 대상만큼이나 주체를 폭로한다. 해부학의 탐색하는, 장갑 낀 손가락은 선연한 녹색을 띈 욕망의 끝 모를 깊이에서 디딜 곳을 잃고 무감한 리비도는 욕망의 공백이 남기고 간 자리의 형태로 날뛴다. 자연은 인류를 고통과 쾌락이라는 두 군주의 지배 하에 두었고 긴 녹색과 자색의 머리카락이 엉키는 것만큼이나, 피 묻은 스칼펠과 깨진 위스키 잔, 미친 듯한 웃음과 좌절을 모르는 참을성, 사치스러운 보석의 광채가 아니라 그들의 주인만을 보는 눈만큼이나 그 사실이 명백하게 드러나는 곳은 없다. 그들에게 애정은 폭력의 여파에 있다.
